Knowledge of the region
We help you come prepared for the trip. All our trips include carefully selected and a good location. We also arrange travel evenings . The better prepared you are, the more you will get out of your trip!
Meetings with local people
For us, the meeting with people is central. We want to enable meetings on equal terms to bridge cultural differences. On many of our trips you get out into the countryside. Here, traditional culture lives on in a different way than in the big city. In small towns and villages, it is much easier to contact people and the opportunity to understand their living conditions.
Many of our trekkers/travellers say after the trip that it was the unique experience, meeting with a certain person or the visit to the home of a certain family that was the highlight for them during the trip. In villages and on hikes, you usually have access to a guide or support staff.
Local tour guides
Local guides are one of the biggest reasons for choosing The Cloudline. Our guides speak Hindi, Local dialect & English and most have worked for us for many years. They have good contacts along the route and naturally give you the local perspective. With him or her you can discuss Nature, Flora & Fauna, Local culture, and social issues. Take the chance to accompany your guide to nearby villages where few trekkers/tourists go. You are a guest in the locality, the tour guide is your host.
Small groups
In a large group, you become an anonymous object to be transported around to as many sights as possible. Crowded tourist buses and flag-waving guides are not our style. Smaller groups provide better conditions for contact with the local people. Our groups normally consist of 10-12 travellers. Maximum group size is 24 travellers. However, we conduct trips with as few as Six travellers. On our family trips, the groups have up to 30 people. This is to increase the chance for the children to have travel companions of the same age.
Longer journeys
Time is a prerequisite for contacting people and for better getting to know and understand an area. Time is also required to have time to do things on your own. Therefore, our trips are usually a little longer than other organizers’ group trips. We offer trips from about one weeks to just under a month.
Flexible program
Our trips are flexible and the travel program often includes a lot of time for your own activities. Exciting activities are offered every day, together with your travel companions or on your own. The tour guide is there to help you find what interests you.
Locally owned and genuine stay
We try to find small family-owned homestay with local charm. The standard varies, but you can count on double rooms with toilet and shower. We also arrange single rooms if you want. However, there will be no luxury hotels because these are usually expensive, charmless and do not let your money go to the locals. On most trips we also stay one or two nights in homestay.
Local transport
On our trips, we prefer to take the train or the local bus. Then the journey will not just be a transport route – here you talk to people and something is happening all the time!
Strong interest in the outside world
We who work at The Cloudline have a strong interest in the world around us. This is something we share with our ever-returning travellers. Discovering the world outside our own cultural sphere gives perspective on our own society and not least on the life we live.
